Performing Arts

We attended a band concert last night at the middle school, played by the elementary school kids. My boy is there in the back row. He is in fifth grade, but he auditioned and was accepted into the sixth grade band, which he thinks is awesome. It must be. His bus comes at 8:55 every morning to pick him up. Band starts at 8:00 and he is required to be there by 7:55. Usually I drop him off by 7:40. He catches a bus from the middle school to his school three days a week after band. On the two days he might sleep in, he practices before the bus comes.

That was definitely not as painful as our elementary school concerts can be. Middle school is marginally better and the ones that can play can do so by high school. My kids missed the entire practice thing.... even when they really really really wanted to learn to play the piano... and were old enough to practice on their own.

Keep on tooting your horn.

Personally, I was pleased with how painless this concert was, and I have been to a few. This group seems to take themselves rather seriously, and it shows.
