Things are shaping up. Maybe if I stay in town long enough, I will get it all organized. I am having lots of fun with my new camera while I try to find places for everything.

What I can do with my new toy. . .
My much improved view from my desk. First the walls are painted my color, then there are shiny pretty things catching the light in the morning.
They sit on the window in the bedroom as well.
They peek out between books on the shelf.

Four states later . . .
13000 or so pictures later, it is time for a new Nikon. After much shopping I found the one I wanted in Idaho. My old Nikon has had wear and tear issues for a while, and it had sustained an injury in a fall at least a year ago, yet it limped on. Today it sits on my desk looking at the new one. The new one took this picture of the bathroom behind my desk in nearly total darkness, yet it found something to see. ISO 3200 is amazing. I will always call it ASA.
It is nice to take kitchen shots in the evening without the flash reflecting off the bowl. We had a birthday this week. My son entered the land of double digits on Sunday, so we made a cake Saturday night. He wanted to do the honors, and who am I to get in the way of creativity.
Every pursuit has its just desserts. In this case, the requisite licking of the bowl follows placing the cake in the oven.
Someone has paid rapt attention to the whole process, and is certain that some small morsel might fall her way if she looks cute or pathetic enough.
What cake is complete without sprinkles? Sunday after church we frosted, decorated and sprinkled the cake.
Candles look so much better without the flash. He got all ten on one breath, so he gets his wish. If it was for new roller skates, he received them earlier in the day.
Shopping with a young lady is always an interesting experience. She finds insights into every product on the shelf. This time it is a video camera.

She is so lucky I had my new camera which records video with sound to properly remind her how much fun she is to have with me at the store. Why just look at a book when you can read it too. Forget for a moment that she was looking for something to buy her brother for his birthday, and it is not quite as funny. Of course any of the items in the background would please him. She finally selected a watch, which he loves.

Traveling again
I am out here, somewhere putting more miles on my car and visiting family. Today's post comes to you courtesy of my cousin in Corvallis, Oregon who has wireless at here house where I stayed last night. That seems close in proximity to Klamath Falls where I last put up pictures, but really I did those from Mom's. This is my first stop on my return journey to my new home. So far this trip has taken me down lots of memory lanes.
On my way home, I am taking a few more, as well as dropping some memories off in the form of orchids here and mysterious boxes at my sister's house in Tumwater. I will throw in a few random shots from the trip down to entertain you. I have yet to install the pictures from the trip back in the computer. Unfortunately, yesterday, just as I was entering the state of Jefferson, my camera gave out.
It has been having difficulty for a while due to a battery door that does not close correctly after a fall, but I have been clicking away despite that for at least a year. I have been thinking about buying a new camera, so I guess it is finally time to actually do that. At least I had my phone to take pictures with. Then its battery died, so I had to pull over and get out the charger so I could call my cousin when I was close to her house. Thanks to Mr. Jumbo's great directions, I found it just fine . . . in the dark. At the moment, I am sitting on the back deck enjoying the sunrise over the wetlands and the local fauna wandering around out there.
This guy is sitting outside McD's in Weed using their WiFi. It used to be they just sold burgers and fries. Of course he could go in and get a table and sit near the lady who was on the phone and using the computer instead of paying attention to the guy across the table who was once with her.
This is actually the second (or depending on how you count it third) toll bridge of my trip. I opted not to take pictures of Mr. Zampa's bridge.
Familliar turf. Soon there will be another marker here. Someone did a nice job trimming the grass.
It is important to move pianos before going on outings, so we had this one moved before we went to the city. It was good we drove, because we got to see more that way.
No visit to SF is complete without a bridge or two or three. I crossed three toll bridges on my trip. Of course, I crossed a couple of big free ones between Oregon and Washington too.
